Raspberry Pi comes in two versions: Model A and Model B. Model A has been redesigned improving its original 128Mb of RAM to having 256Mb RAM, a USB port, and no Ethernet. Model B has 256Mb of RAM, 2 USB ports and an Ethernet port. Both Model A and Model B have standard audio and video output and HDMI output as well. An SD card stores non-volatile memory including booting procedures (BIOS) in addition to long-term memory, so it is a requirement. The Operating Systems supported by Raspberry Pi include: Arch Linux ARM, Debian Squeeze, Gentoo Linux, and Google Chrome. In addition to creating spreadsheets, word-processing files and games, Raspberry Pi can also play HD video. Raspberry Pi is typically hooked up to a television screen or monitor using the video output of the HDMI plug-in. The USB ports allow for use of standard keyboards and mice and connection to networks (including the internet) is possible through the use of the Ethernet plug-in.
